Well and good to want to network and learn,

BUT, please don't hijack other peoples threads to do so.  You needed to start your own thread to make this announcement.

The seminar titled "The Atlas of Welding Procedure specifications is being offered again in October 2018. It is a three-day seminar on the subject developing and qualifying WPSs.

This seminar will be of interest to anyone struggling with the Part B CWI examination and those that have the responsibility of writing WPSs, but feel they lack the experience or training to write an effective WPS.

The following is a brief synopsis of the seminar:

The CWI seminars do not specifically focus on the skills needed to develop and implement WPSs, however the CWI is assumed to have those skills by many employers. This three-day seminar is designed to answer that need by providing the attendee with the tools needed to generate and use Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) that meet several welding standards, including ASME Section IX and AWS structural codes.

The subjects of prequalified WPSs, Standard WPSs, and the qualification of WPSs by testing is addressed. The qualification of a WPS by testing is universally recognized by all fabrication standards. The seminar will focus on what is required to qualify the WPS and how to properly record the test data in the Procedure Qualification Record (PQR). We will explore what pitfalls to avoid, what information and data is required, and what additional data should be recorded in the PQR.

Classroom exercises are an integral part of this seminar. The seminar is interactive, requiring the attendee to use the data and the forms provided by the instructor to ensure the subject matter is understood and can be successfully applied. Each attendee must bring a calculator and a laptop computer to the seminar. The laptop is essential; the seminar will provide several MS Excel and MS Word files that can be used to further enhance the course content. Extensive course notes will be provided to each attendee to reinforce the instructor led discussions. Course notes provided to each attendee will include the forms needed to complete the in-class exercises.

The subject of welder performance qualification is also addressed. The discussion will address how a welder is qualified/certified and what documentation is needed to ensure the qualification program meets the requirements of the applicable welding standard and is “bullet proof”.

After successful completion of the full three-day seminar and completion of the assignments, each attendee will receive a Certificate of Completion and is eligible for 24 PDHs toward their CWI and SCWI renewal in accordance with the provisions of AWS QC1.
