Hi,

Please share the precautions to be taken during welding of martensitic stainless steels. Ex., CA6NM+CA6NM.

Anneal, preheat, maintain interpass temperature, post weld heat treat in that order.

Are you doing anything like back purging with argon, or protecting the backside of the weld?

Use a low hydrogen process (GTAW or GMAW) and ensure the flux (SAW) and flux coated (SMAW) consumables are dried as per manufacturer's instruction. Apply pre heat as per WPS, follow recommended min interpass temp, immediately carry out PWHT after welding.
