i am trying to qualify a procedure for Duplex 2205 to a P-1 carbon. the first test came back with a failure of one face bend and one root bend. i am qualifing to ASME section IX . the filler used was a 309L with a max inter-pass of 300  . volts were  13-16.9 and amp varied from 100 to 170 on different passes. 8 passes total on a .375 T plate.  J input ranged from 29K to 40K.

the welder is a very competent journeyman fitter. Where did i go wrong? i will be running another test soon and need to make necessary  corrections. thanks for your help. jack

What did the bends show?  How did they fail?
