You just miss the 3-day seminar hosted by the Connecticut Section AWS' seminar on writing and qualifying WPSs and welders.

Send your contact information if you are interested in attending the next seminar.

Is the brand of wire called out on your WPS, or just the wire spec?  Are you looking to change wires within spec or to a wire under a different specification?

Dear Sir

As per AWS D1.1_2015
1-Table 4.5- You can change but consumable classification must be the same
2- Table 4.6- Not allowed

UNDER OUR D1.5 WPS IT IS CALLED OUT AS LINCOLN BUT ON D1.1 IT JUST SAYS E71T-1

Regarding D1.5 - Table 5.2 States Manufacturer brand and type of cored electrode is required for WPS qualification. I don't see anywhere that directly states it's an essential variable, and I've had go arounds with a DOT or two about it, with no resolution. If you read the commentary for 5.5.1, it basically says AWS views Fluxes and Cored wires as individual products which sheds light on the expectation that it should be treated as an essential variable.

THANKS A LOT EVERYONE.  OUR PQR DIRECTLY STATES LINCOLN ULTRACORE FOR D1.5 BUT I THINK I CAN GET AWAY WITH CHANGING NAME BRANDS UNDER D1.1.  AGAIN GUYS THANKS FOR THE REASSURANCE.
