Ok so I’ve finally got most of the kinks worked out, when I start up the welder and monitor the voltage coming out of the alternator it just takes off it was up to 17 volts by the time I got it shut off would you guys have any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this? I have a picture but not sure how to upload it

It's hard to tell by your picture, but it looks like an internal reg. If its internal you can take it to any Oreille's or Auto zone and they can test it. The voltage output should be +12 to 15 volts. A new single wire Alt. is about $75.00. Not to expensive if you have to replace it.
