Hello all. Recently i was reading some articles about aluminum alloys and i happen to read an article about the Super light weight external tank for space flight used by NASA and  fabricated by 2195 aluminum lithium alloy . The alloy seems to have remarkable properties. It has higher elastic modulus, lower density and 30 percent higher strength as compared to other 2xxx aluminum alloys.

I have searched on google a bit. There seemed to be mixed opinions about this alloy weldability. Does any of the friend here have any personal experiences regarding this alloy 2195 or any other lithium alloy?
