Pretty new to writing wps/pqr’s, so I wrote one for the military department saying he needed 1” carbon steel pipe beveled both ends, thought it would be simple I had it 6010 downhill, 7018 out downhill, it got rejected because UFGS requires first pass to be gtaw or gmaw, I’ve never heard of UFGS is this a separate code from section ix?

UFGS is Unified Facilities Guide Specifications.  They have nothing to do with AWS or ASME.  They are the federal government guide specifications used for federal projects.  What your client is telling you is that for the particular project you are working on they have project specification language that calls out those requirements you mention.

UFGS guide specs are boiler plate specifications used by the government.  They are then tailored for individual projects.

I would hope they would reject the 7018 downhill as well.
