Up Topic Welding Industry / Technical Discussions / Specified value of fillet convexity on welding symbols

Greetings,

I am wondering if the captured welding symbol below taken from one of the typical precast details is enough or do I have to mention the convexity value as specified in AWS captured table and details (highlighted ones) below to avoid an excess convexity which may overstress the welding toe?

Appreciate any help

The welding symbol specifies the length of the fillet leg, no the throat. If the application involves a outside corner fillet weld that will be ground to some contour, i.e., ground to form a square corner, a standard welding symbol may not convey the necessary information. If that is the case, a sketch if the preferred method of providing the level of detail needed to ensure the welder understands what is needed.
