Gentlemen,
i am having a little trouble interpreting table 2.3 to determine what filler metal requirements to meet. We have a column thats A913-65 which is a group III pre qual base metal as you all know. The stiffeners are all A572-50 which only requires E70 electrodes. Do i have to run E80 electrodes rto match the A913-65 or the E70 electrodes will do? Aleady re wrote new WPS's and tested with E80 electrodes. Hope it was for good cause

Take a look at the notes below Table 3.1, Approved Base Metals for Prequalified WPS's.....

1. In joints involving base metals of different groups, either of the following filler metals may be used: (1) that which matches the higher strength base
metal, or (2) that which matches the lower strength base metal and produces a low-hydrogen deposit. Preheating shall be in conformance with the
requirements applicable to the higher strength group.
