Hello again, I have a question regarding the joint details in a prequalified joint for a WPS. In AWS D1.6 2016 5.10.5 it states "Groove preparations detailed for prequalifed SMAW and SAW joints may be used for prequalifed GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW joints." The way I read this is, the details used for either SMAW or SAW can be used for GMAW, GTAW and FCAW. I question my interpretation because i will look at a few details for example BC-P2 with my interpretation could be used with GMAW, GTAW, FCAW and SMAW. I feel my interpretation is incorrect because then I look at BC-P2-GS and wonder now why would they have this detail for? My question is if my interpretation is correct or incorrect and if it is incorrect what is the correct interpretation?
