Genesis (the origin/beginning) chapter 4 verse 22 - Tubal-cain an instructor of every artificer (forge/blacksmith welder), in brass and iron (meteorite iron)
1 Samuel Chapter 14 verse 19 - Now there was no blacksmith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears.
2 Kings Chapter 24 verse 16 - And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and blacksmiths a thousand, all that were strong and apt war,
Jeremiah chapter 24 verse 1 - ...with the carpenters and blacksmiths, from Jerusalem, and brought them to Babylon.
Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 2 - ...and the carpenters, and the blacksmiths, were departed from Jerusalem;
AWS may be 100 years old but forge/blacksmith welding goes back a bit further and the first recorded visual inspection is in the first chapter of Genesis verses 10, 12, 18, 21, 25 "and God saw that it was good." verse 31 "behold, it was very good."

Earlier in Genesis 4 Cain slew his brother Abel, and although the Scripture does not say so, he may have used a rock to strike him down, thus perhaps the first use of stones as a tool/weapon.  Just a thought, but possible.
