The thread title says GMAW but the question mentions GTAW.
There are some specific GMAW waveform controlled processes that are designed to do root passes from one side on austenitic stainless without backing. They are well proven but still require great process control and code compliance.
GTAW has some flux cored filler wires designed to weld roots without backing and there is also the option of Solar Flux. These also require special procedures and have some very big limitations.
I just have changed the title. I realized that there has big limitations, I also need a sparkle to do it. And I wonder that, how can we do this process clear and having smooth root face. Thanks for your respond :)
