In Table 9.13 it is given that 6G welders with or without backing shall weld PJP of TKY joints,while only 6GR welders shall weld CJP of TKY joints.My doubt is "If a TKY joint root is welded with a 6GR welder can 6G continue the subsequent passes considering the root as backing weld and PJP?

AWS makes no distinction of weld depth limitation/qualifications like other codes, so multiple welders performing welding on one joint is a gray area at best.

The weld would still technically be classified as a CJP, therefore I would say no, not allowable.

It would really come down to having a written procedure and having it approved by the Engineer of Record (EOR). If they agree with it, then its allowable.
