Hy Guys,

i have a pqrs in ED.2015 with mechanical tests according to the same edition is valid now with the new edition 2020? Is needed to implement the changes required in ED.2020?

In any case if i will issue a welding book with pqr Ed.2015, i will use the range of qualification for ED. 2020 or ED.2015?

I assume you are talking about AWS D1.1 although you did not say it.

Exactly which "changes" between 2015 to 2020 give you concern?

What "range of qualification" changed between 2015 and 2020 ?

If the WPS was qualified by testing to the requirements of the applicable welding standard while that standard was in effect, the WPS and supporting PQR are valid. If the WPS was qualified when the 2020 edition was in effect, but qualified to the 2015 edition, there is a problem unless you were obligated to meet the requirements of 2015 by contract or local or state statue.

An example is in order, many local and state governing bodies are several years behind with regards to incorporating welding standards (and other standards) into their state statues. By law, the owner and contractor are obligated to meet the requirements of the legal statue. Those statues usually include provisions that allow the design professional to adopt a more recent edition or revision of the standard. If the "Engineer" as defined by AWS D1.1 does not opt to specify a more recent revision of the standard (code), the one cited by the statue has precedent.

Hy Lawrence

i conferm that my question is refered to AWS D 1.1

I have some doubs regarding for example:
Ed.2020 Figure 6.28—CVN Test Specimen Locations (see 6.27.1) vs Ed.2015 Figure 4.28—CVN Test Specimen Locations (see 4.26.1)

This is one of first very difference beatween the two revision.

In this case what's the approccing? The pqr ed 2015 will be update like request ed.2020?

Thanks
