Welder Performance Qualification - AWS D1.1

Hi Guys,

In AWS D1.1 (2020) if a welder qualifies on plate groove weld test coupon is the welder then also qualified for fillet welds on any size of pipe or tube?

Hi Lawrence,
Thank you for your response.
I am working with AWS D1.1 (2020).
I cannot find the answer in Table 6.10
Table 6.11 footnote d states "Also qualifies for welding any fillet or PJP weld size on any thickness of plate, pipe or tubing."
In my opinion the footnote addresses thickness but not diameter of pipe.
Could you please advise?

It doesn't list a pipe diameter limitation for fillets because there is no limitation.

The welder is qualified, for fillets is qualified to make fillets on any diameter of pipe or HSS.

That's how I read it.
