I have heard both sides of wearing contacts while welding--where can I find accurate information on this subject.

Visit with your opthamologist, they can direct you to the College of Opthamology archives which documents eye injuries. That will be as straight a scoop as you will get.

The key statement in this document is "the sum of all the research is this - wearing contact lenses poses no problem for welders in most normal situations".
