In taking the CWI exam; what tools/equipment is allowed? Ex: probes, calculator, steel rules, mirrors, weld guages, etc

And what equipment would you reccomend for a CWI to have in the field?

Thanks
James

I just got thru taking the CWI exam. the only thing allowed in the class is a calculator. In the field you should have basic weld gages, such as mirror, flashlight, fillet gages, etc. Hope this helps.

I might also mention that AWS does not like you to use a calculator that does english to metric conversions.

The above information is correct, but missing is the proper code citation you will test to. Be it D1.1, API 1104, ect. It is advised you bring your own code book for the thrid part of the test which is the open code exam.
