any have info on rebar welding and is there a test for welding rebar
this rebar is used in the concrete retaining wall on the interstate
it is coated also.

In D1.4, the two types of qualification tests are direct butt joints (full-pen groove welds) and indirect butt splices (flare groove) with various configurations like splice plates, splice angles and splice bars.

Really keep your eye on the essential variables which require requalification. I believe the coating will have to be removed too.

GOOD ADVICE EYE. I have witnessed, inspected and tested several welders while a building inspector in San Fransico. Also with 60 grade rebar make sure you use preheat if its cold or wet the bar will form martinsite when welded, a hard spot that usually will break under the required load when you tensile test for qualification samples.
