I am working on a project to develope a repair for the textile manufacturing industry. It concerns a part for a weaving machine.

The part consists of a 24" long, 7/32" dia. alloy steel rod with a C1018 hollow sleeved cap on each end. The hollow section of the cap is threaded on the outside and is about .020" at its thinist wall thickness. This part drives a load of about 200 lbs. up 12" and returning 900 cycles per minute, so there are considerable forces applied.

I would like to attach the cap to the rod by inserting the rod into the hollow section of the cap and weld via silver solder. I would appreciate everyones opinion regarding this application as it applies to strength of the joint as well as recomendations on this process.

Thanks,

DHStansell
