I work for a medical device mfgr., and we have some Molybdenum racks that we use in our vacuum furnaces where we perform our heat treat operations on our products. The lead time, and expense of these racks is ASTRONOMICAL!!! They become brittle with use, and will crack usless handled carefully. My question is, can a simple butt weld be performed on Molybdenum? The side rails of the racks are 3/16"x2 1/16. Even a temporary repair would suffice so I'm not without the rack while I wait the 12-16 weeks for a new one.
