Look at Table 4.11, for qualifying your welders, electrode diameter is not an essential variable that requires requalification. If they used .045 on their test coupon, they can weld with .062 in production.
However if you are using a "qualified procedure" and you change wire size any, then that is an essential variable listed in Table 4.5(10) that requires requalification of the WPS with a new PQR for that diameter electrode. If the WPS was qualified with a PQR using .045, then a new qualification is required for the .062.
So it depends on whether you are using prequalifieds or qualified procedures.
