Hello,

I am doing an assignment for uni and was wondering if anyone knew of any good sites which compare and contrast the different welding processes.

In particular:
MIG, TIG, Friction, Oxyacetylene, Laser, Electron Beam

I have am currently researching each one individually and comparing there pros and cons.

Just wanted to see if anyone has done anything similar in the past.

Thanks for your time,

BoB

Hi BoB,
A couple of books come to mind, that cover all of the processes you listed (and much more), are published by the AWS. "Welding Inspection Technology", and "Welding Handbook Vol. II" covers Arc and Gas Welding and Cutting, Brazing and Soldering. Another good read is "Modern Welding Technology" by Howard B. Cary.

Sites of interest for MIG and TIG might be...
http://www.lincolnelectric.com/default.asp
http://millerwelds.com/
http://www.esabna.com/
http://weldreality.com/
http://www.twi.co.uk/j32k/index.xtp

I'm sure if you searched the web for the other processes you listed it would find other sites or research that you are interested in.

Hope this helps some,
John Wright
