I had an inquiry yesterday from a guy who wanted to know if I had ever brazed copper to Al, he was having trouble getting the solder to fuse to the al in spots, I told him to make sure that the base metal was clean, is this correct if fusion is spotty on the same piece of material

Solutions for Cu Al brazing
1 4047 filler metal plus non corrosive flux
Adv : costs
Disadv : brittle joint
2 Zn Al filler metal, non corrosive flux, reducing flame
Adv : 200°C of working range
Disadv : corrosion problem spec. in automotive, costs
3 : Al-stainless steel-Cu

Normally in fitting joints, the base material with the higer thermal expansion is outside but in this way in some case is very difficult to reach the wetting temp. of the base material inside.
