Can anybody suggest me some welding electrode / FILLER wire for SMAW / SAW welding of

1. EN 10225(2001) S 355G9+M.
welding material to be impact tested( for 25 mm plate) at -50 degree with Charpy value avj50J & min 35j.Parent material is impact tested at -50 and satisfy the charpy requirement as specified.Parent material was made by TMCP process with C.E .38 & Ni content is .3.I am not sure whether 7016G (SMAW) Or Lincoln LS-3 (for SAW ) will be able to meet this reqirement.

If possible to give some reliable brand name FOR SMAW & SAW.

2. The other material is EN 10225 ( 2001) S460G2+M.
Impact requirement is 50j avg & 35J min at -60.
CE of parent material is .46, Ni content is 1.3 max
Please suggest me some electrode/ filler wire for SMAW / SAW

E7016G is a "Wildcat" electrode due to the "G" classification and does not have any specified requirement in the filler metal specification for toughness, so it would vary greatly between manufacturers. Also, you don't mention, so I assume that there is no PWHT involved?
For SMAW, the first electrode I would investigate for the properties you are looking for (52 ksi yield, plus CVNs at specified temperature/energy level), is E8018-C3. I have used ESAB Atom Arc 8018-SR with good luck down to -53F, but with PWHT. The individual manufacturer should be consulted for more detailed information.

For 67ksi yield material, and the lower temperature, the 1%Ni of 8018-C1 might not be enough. Some electrodes to look at would be 8018-C1 (2.5% Ni), or 9018M (1.5% Ni), or 10018-M1 (2%Ni)

Thanks for the information

There is no PWHT requirement for 25/30 mm plate which has to be impact tested at - 50 degree c. And by using 8018 sometimes it is very difficult to get good penetration at root. That is why we go for 7016 /7016G. LB 52NS kobe make (E7016G)is good fOR IMPACT AT -40.

Any idea of SAW filler wire???

If you can't find one that penetrates like you want and meets your properties, can you change your joint design, or modify the backgouging to produce a sound joint? I have much less experience with SAW, but do know a testing facility used Lincoln LA-85 and Lincolnweld 8500 for CTOD tests. Lincoln claims 134 ft-lb at -60F. You should talk to a manufacturer to see what their recommendations are. I don't think it would be hard to find one that meets your requirements.

Try E 7016-1 : this means a 7016 with higher toughness. For example Böhler FOX EV 50-W. This specially made for root runs to weld on DC-. Fill with DC+. This one you can use for both root runs.
For the 460 MPa Yield strength I would chose for the fill layers a E8018-C3 with 1% Nickel with higher yield strength like Thyssen SH V 1 (PHOENIX SH V 1) with 500 MPa Yield, Or 2,5% Nickel E 8018-C1.
The root run will raise its strength due to dilution.

SAW : UNION S2NiM01 or UNION S2Ni2,5 with flux UV421TT or UV418TT
