Is it the intent of D1.1 that fillet welded tee-joints CANNOT be pre-qualified under any circumstances? That's what I understand, particularly from 4.11.2. Can anybody enlighten me?
NO. You can always qualify any welded joint, even the pre-qualified ones. You you wish to pre-qualify a fillet weld go the section 3.9 and start there.
