If anyone could give me a tip on mild steel welding with use of TIG. I've purchased used Lincoln Square Wave TIG 250. I tried 2% thoriated tungsten electrode 1/16" diameter, added material is also 1/16" diameter mild steel. Gas: 75% argon, 25% CO2, 15CFH pressure. Regardless of different settings I've tried: 2-step, 4-step, with pulser or without, all DC(-) - my results are pathetic so far. I'm trying to weld "T" from 1/4" diameter mild steel rods and it is my first experience with TIG. Please help with settings (gas type, pressure, amperage, etc.)

Wrong Gas. Use Pure Argon

Exactly what type of results are you getting?? Is
the resulting weld "dirty"?? Is the weld not strong
enough?? Ditto on the comment about gas type.
100% argon seems to work fine on 1/4" mild steel
for me. Also make sure that the joint is clean
before welding. Lasty, what current are you using??
