Up Topic Welding Industry / Technical Discussions / Filler Wire ??? (15-5 PH to 625 Inconel)
- - By cproske Date 06-24-2004 15:53
I can't find any information on what filler wire to use to weld 15-5 PH Stainless steel to 625 Inconel.
Application:
.035" wall tubing for aerospace.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Note: I can only use information from documented/creditable sources, links or directions pointing me to the resources were I can find this information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Curtis,

I like the cross refrence charts found in the "ASM Materials Handbook Vol. 6"

You may also find viable cross refrence charts in both GE and Pratt Whitney's standard practice manuals if you can get access to them.

Sorry I don't have my books handy to take a personal read, The 15-5 is precipitation hardenable while the inco is not so take your time on the research as the compositions are quite different in chrome and nickle %.

Lastly, here are a couple of links that discuss your alloys with just a bit of data on weldability altho nothing directly addressing your combination.

Here is a link to good data on the inco 625

http://www.specialmetals.com/general.htm <---these guys make the inco 625 and they may be able to produce a cross refrence for you.
