Is there any data to support the claim that the light/uv rays are brighter using 90% Argon-10% CO2 vs. 95% Argon-5% O2 when welding using the pulsed spray mode?

I would contact Praxair for info on UV levels. They have a lot of good literature. I'm sure a web search will find other sources too.

If I had to guess, I would say the 95% Argon mixture would produce a higher level of UV simply because it has been researched and found that an arc in argon produces a higher level than with a CO2 atmosphere.

I have to say that all this sounds like trying to figure out which is worse, burning your hand on 500 deg steel or on 550 degree steel?
