Hi there,

Does anyone of you know any standard related with the method of measurement of interpass temperature on stainless steel pipe welds? Example half or double thickness (thickness of pipe) away from the weld edge etc.

Thanks,

BS EN ISO 13916:1997 (Welding - guidance on the measurement of preheating temperature, interpass temperature and preheat maintenance temperature).

The important bits are:

Interpass temperature definition: The temperature in a multi run weld and adjacent parent material immediatley prior to the application of the next run. It is normally expressed as a maximum temperature.

Point of measurement: Interpass temperature shall be measured on the weld metal or the immediately adjacent parent metal.

Time of measurement: Interpass temperature shall be measured in the weld area immediately before passage of the arc.

Hope this is useful.
