I am welding nickel alloys and stainless steels to a M62 tool steel. We have cracking problems using a old automated Tig machine(~10yrs old) with not filler wire capabilities.

We are looking at a new TIG machine with the new Dynasty 300 power suppler and a filler wire feeder. We are also looking at a plasm machine with a filler wire feeder.

Is there an advantage to going with plasma over TIG welding to lessen the cracking?
