It is with great enthusiasm that Hobart Institute of Welding Technology announces two new seminar opportunities for 2005!

LASER WELDING AND PROCESSING

Personnel involved with laser processing, procedure development, or problem troubleshooting need to become proficient in the terminology, equipment and issues that influence laser processing. For this reason, the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is drawing on the expertise of the instructors from EWI in Columbus, Ohio, to host this one-day event at our Troy, Ohio facility.

For the first time on February 15, 2005, the Hobart Institute will be the site of a 7-hour seminar that discusses carbon dioxide and Nd:YAG lasers, along with the newer disk and fiber lasers. Some of the topics that will be covered during the day-long session include explanations on light and lasing, basic laser components and types, transfer of energy, optics, quality control, laser welding, joint design, welding metallurgy, and laser safety.

ROBOTIC ARC WELDING

Is your company considering robots to automate its welding operations? You’ll want to enroll in this one-day seminar covering the criteria and guidelines for selecting applications for automation and robotics, robot system selection, application considerations, and process selection, as well as return on investment (ROI) and economic justifications for the purchase and implementation of robotics.

EWI in Columbus, Ohio, is providing the instructor for this day-long session to be held at the Hobart Institute in Troy, Ohio, for the first time on April 12, 2005. A few of the topics covered include reasons for and objectives of automation, types of welding automation and options, key elements of the robot system, positioning equipment and accessories, system and vendor selection, welding processes, and methods of justification.

Registration for each seminar is $1050 and space will be limited. Early enrollment is encouraged. For registration form and further information, visit our web site at http://www.welding.org or contact us:
