Does anyone know how the shape of LP/Ox tips differs from that of Ox/Acetylene and how one goes about modifying the acetylene tips for use with LP? Also, is it safe/acceptable to use unmodified acetylene tips with LP?

Any info on this general subject much appreciated

You cannot use Acetylene tips with LP. They might last a little while but eventually they will turn red hot and/or melt. Acetylene tips are one piece where LP tips are 2 pieces.

I've seen some Smith LP screw on, single orifice tips that look like acetylene tips but the orifices are larger and the perimeter of the tip is rounded. That seems to be the only obvious difference. I ask about the shape because I've heard of other LP/Ox tips with different shapes - it sounds like some have recessed orifices. I may need to modify some acetylene tips to use LP if possible.

Thanks
