I am having difficulty with the consistancy of weld strength while welding a 8MM nut onto 2mm thick galvanized steel. Any suggestions for typical setup or general practice for welding this material? I can get a good weld but with alot of flash which is damaging the threads on the nut. I am getting contradicting statements from different people on how i should set this up. Any ideas?

Due to manufacturers requirements the nut must be projection welded. I have mig welded nuts in the past but only in conditions where a traditional projection welder is not practical. Any tips On projection welding this material?
