i have added a miller spool matic 30a to my miller 250 mig. i been mig welding for several years and have experience with mild and stainless. i'm starting a job which is going to be made with 10 gauge aluminium. i practiced with the gun a little on some scraps and can run a pretty good weld. i still would like to have some tips and information on this type of welding to see if i can improve the welds. i am using 100% argon.
any advice about heat settings or gun techqiues would be a real help.

I have my speed set at about 3.5- 4 at 27 volts for this gauge material.
I push the gun, using about 1/2" stickout.
Cleanliness is next to godliness (scrub scrub scrub).
If the back side of the work piece shows signs of blow through, go faster, or turn down the volts. (turning down the speed just gets you into glob transfer and makes a mess)
Good luck and practice on scrap first.
