Up Topic American Welding Society Services / Certifications / CWI 9 Year Re-certification
- - By Weldz61 (*) Date 10-24-2004 02:11
I am coming upon my ninth year as a CWI, and I would like to get my info. together to send for my re-certification. I have been actively teaching in an accredited trade school and within industry and I am certain I can fullfill the hourly obligation. I also have done many welder qualification test and welding procedures and I have my own welding company and am actively involved in welding fabrication and repair. My question is, will this satisfy the
requirements? I would rather qualify by my experience then having to take the exam. again. If the teaching, fabricating and inspection experience satisfies the requirements how will I document it? Will I need a notarized letter from the school and companies who I have rendered my services to? I have viewed the requirements on line but I am not exactly sure.

Thanks,
C. Miller

Hello Mr. Miller,
I just updated my 9yr by the same method you desire.
My teaching was thru an accredited org. NCCER and they promply sent my certs.. I was able to track the hours taught by the number of welders I worked with & was able to document the hours according to to the recommended course hours.
I am a full time Inspector for a general contractor and have the opportunity as well as the responsibility to Inspect welds for numerous conractors. This worked well.

Hope this helps.
