Thanks for the heads up and the link Neal.
AWS's Safety and Health Fact Sheet No. 4 (10/03) discusses this...albeit generically. What caught my eye is that OSHA's proposed revised rule will drastically reduce the PEL. From 52 mg/m3 to 1 mg/m3. That is quite a reduction when considering the general industry standard PEL in 2002 was 100 mg/m3.
It is interesting to note why OSHA is proposing this revision. They explain it at this link. It is the only item under "Hot Topics" at the bottom of the page.

It appears this doesn't apply the same if you are in the constructon or shipbuilding industry. Anyone know why that is ? Are construction workers or shipyard worker less susceptable to these hazards. Is anyone here involved with the process in which the rules are made.
