Arc wandering is typically caused by using too large a tungsten diameter for the amperages anticipated.

If wandering is a problem, go to the next smaller tungsten.

As an aside-when starting to weld-nail the foot pedal. You can always reduce amps.

Amerage range charts are available from:
Millerwelds.com
Lincolnelectric.com
Diamondgroundproducts.com
The Tig Guy
and many other resources.

Additionally, if you let me know what you are welding, I can probably give you tips and a procedure for your weldments.

Good Luck

First of all, if you cannot maintain a nice point on the tip of the tungsten then you obviously need to try 3/32 size. If your tungsten is to far from your base metal at ignition then you will hear a HF buzzing noise out of your machine and its important always use a SHARP tungsten. I can't stress that enough!
