We fabricated a large component for a piece of machinery out of 304L. I had specified 308L welding material but the shop substituted 316L material. Should I expect problems with that part or will it be OK?

Should be fine, regardless of the application. 316L has a slight molybdenum addition for pitting resistance.

316L is same as 308L except it has 2% Mo, which 308L doesn't. It works; Don't worry.
