Hobart Stickmate LX 235 AC Welder ($231.00 at Tractor Supply) or Lincoln® Electric 225 Amp Stick Welder ($247.00 at Lowes)
Price is a issue due to this only being a hobby, I'm a Cronatron Manager and I just want to play around.

I would vote for the Hobart it is an ITW company and they make fine machinery.

Both are nice machines... If you can somehow manage it, I would recommend an AC/DC unit. You'll may happier in the long run.

I also think you would be happier with an ac/dc machine.
I would look at used equipment at your local welding supply, or Ebay.Easy way to save some money. Jeff
