Hello All,
I need to procure an AC/DC clamp meter for measuring amps and volts during welding. What I need should be capable of measuring at least up to 600 amps for SAW.

Does anybody have any recommendations and info on where I can find them?

Thank you,
Mankenberg

We recently purchased a 1000amp AC/DC Clamp DMM Extech. Found it in MSC order # 76942739

Is the clamp meter for shop use only? Or are you going to be using it for verification of welding equipment meters. If your shop is AISC cert'd, you have to use NIST certified equipment.

Check out this thread regarding meters:

Thanks everyone for your replies. We are not an AISC shop. We do primarily military work and are not an AISC shop. Any meters I pick up will likely be used at some point to verify welding machine meters, but would not be used for actual calibration. My primary use would be for WPS qualification.

Thanks again,
Mankenberg

I got a pretty nice one from FLUKE. 600 volt 1000 amp AC/DC, think it ran about $250 give or take.
