Anyone have any good technical references for material properties and microstructure in cobalt hardfacing deposits on CrMo steels? I'm specifically interested in iron dilution limits for Stellite 6 deposits. I've heard anything over 9%Fe in the 1st layer can lead to cracking. I've searched the Stoody and Stellite websites, AWS Welding Journal Articles, AWS Welding Handbook, ASM Handbook, Metadex, Compendex and other databases, but can't find any good data on dilution limits.

Marty, I've found this guy to be remarkably helpful in my past research in stellite overlay issues, try dropping him an e-mail or visiting the wear management website. Good luck!

Thanks Jon, I'll give him a try.
