Hi! What are good techniques for characterizing weldablity. I'm thinking destructive like Vickers micro hardness and non-destructive like LPI. Please feel free to state the obvious. What are good ways to check senitization in stainess steels, denuded zones and the precipitate condition etc. I'm thinking of welds in stainless or super alloys.

Thanks in advance.

For weldability: carbon equivalent. Use the IIW formula.
Sensitization in stainless steels: ASTM standard A262
Denuded zones and precipitates: metallography.
