I am working with some 10yr. old welding procedures for joining 430SS tubing (.031" wall) to 410SS, and 416SS flanges (.125" wall). No pressures or significant loads. The drawing filler wire specified is 347. Corrosion is not an issue but cracking is. Some of the parts are post weld stress relieved. Several references I consulted specify 310 filler. Should I ditch the 347? Will hot cracking still be an issue welding a ferritic like 430 with an austenitic filler? What about using 312 to avoid cracking?
