I need some advice/tips on butt welding and T welding together 3/32" SS wire. I am using a MIG welder that has HI/LOW MIN/MAX, infinite line feed adjustment, argon gas. I found that the lowest heat setting is working better. My main question is when I weld them together should the two pieces touch or not? I found that some extra wire sticking out when I make the T weld will melt the extra (almost like solder) but it makes a big blob. Also this will not work with the butt joint. If anyone has some tips or pointers on welding this wire it would me much appreciated. I am making wire sculptures, and will have many welds on the same piece. If you want to see an example of what I am doing see my website www.rollingballsculpture.com. Although everything there now is in brass that was soldered. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks!
