Anyone use a microhardness indentor to characterize welds? I'm looking to use it as a dual purpose, low mag microscope but also to measure hardness in and around welds. However, I've never used one before.
Does anyone have any experiences out there? Advice? I know I want a good stage for micropositioning. How about optics, do the manufacturers save(skimp) on those aspects of the device? Anything to avoid or issues you've come across would be warmly received.
