Hi bppi2000!
Not too much info, however for MMA try something along the lines of a SFA/AWS A5.1 E7018 type electrode. Typical Procedure would depend on joint/thickness application etc. However, A105 is quite a common and straight foreward material to weld. If its thick, it might need pre/post weld heat treatment!
Regards
We have used ER70S-6 successfully on hundreds of these applications. I'm sure most 70 series fillers would work well.
Ahh..this isn't a safety relief valve is it?
Since you said "rod" use 7018 (or equiv)
Hi, Use either 7018 atom arc or lincoln excalibur to stick weld valves with. You may use er70s2 tig wire. I do not suggest using mig on steam valves from experice as a navy welder.
A105 has some interesting requirements for repairs. These come from A-105-2001. All repairs require PWHT. No repair may exceed 10% of the surface area, nor 33% of the wall thickness (or 3/8") whichever is less; without approval from the owner.
