You need to get your hands on a copy of AWS QC1:current edition. Mine is a 96 version, I don't know off hand if there are newer releases of that standard or not. This covers all of the requirements for education and experience needed before applying for an application. For CWI Look at AWS QC1:96, Section 5, Paragraph 5.2, this explains all of these items. And then to be considered for examination you need to comply with AWS QC1:96, Section 6, all subsequent paragraphs in section 6.
Good Luck with your class, it is a real mouthful of information to swallow in a week, but it will prepare you for taking the exam. Don't get overwelhmed, just take good notes and rest well at night, don't stay up all night studying.
For me, I found it best when I got out of class each night, I would relax and go get something to eat and kick back for an hour or two. Then briefly study back over my notes and any homework that was given, and go to bed.
Many have self studied and just signed up for the exam, to each his own, but the class was the right choice for me since my background was limited to structural steel only. This course gave me exposure to other types of materials that I had no experience with.
