what is my best bet for decent welds in 304 with my MM challenger. The stainless is 20 guage and will be under fairly high heat. It's a take-off manifold for a firebox flue. I would rather not buy new gas and currently have lots of C-25. Also are there any mig parameters which will allow decent welds from mild to 304 stainless.

304 stainless is susceptable to sigma phase at high heat. The preferred gas for welding stainless MIG is a 98-2, meaning 98%argon and 2% oxygen. C-25 is not designed for welding stainless, whether it is stainless to stainless or stainless to mild steel. Too much carbon in the gas will adversely affect the strength and corrosion resistance.
