pure moly ?,

or are you welding a moly alloy ?

perhaps best you explain your use or application.

Dave,
I've never heard of a "moly" TIG rod, but that doesn't mean they don't make such an animal. What % moly are you looking for? The greatest % of moly I've ever heard of is in your nickel based alloys with a moly % of 16%, at the most.

I will be welding Molybdenum tube and machined parts.
Material is Molybdenum 99.95% TZM: (Ti: 0.4 - 0.55%, Zr: 0.06 - 0.12%)
The material to be welded is Molybdenum NOT a metal alloyed with Molybdenum.
I am trying to find a reliable supplier of Molybdenum GTAW filer rod.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I would start with the base material manufacturer - they may even have a division that manufactures filler materials. I would also get their recommendations for welding (parameters, techniques, etc).

It would be great if you could let us know the manufacturer, filler specification and the welding parameters of the proposed weld once you have completed the job.
Thanks in advance.

MOLYBDENUMCAN BE WELDED AUTOGENOUSLY IF THE X-SECTION IS THIN.ALTERNATELY CUT THE BASE METAL SHEET AND USE IT AS FILLER METAL.
CONTACT ANY INCADESCENT BULB MANUFACTURERS THEY USE MOLYBDENUM WIRE IN LARGE QTY. THEY ALSO USE MOLY SHEETS TO PREPARE/FORM A TUBULAR FURNACE WHERE SWAGING OF TUNGSTEN BILLET IS DONE. TO BUY MOLY CONTACT CABOT CORPORATION USA

You might try United States Welding, they draw a lot of exotic wire for aero space, etc.
