What do employers look for when hiring for a weld engineering position aside from having a bs.,and X number of years experience? How long has it taken you to gain the position welding engineer ? Is there any advice that you're willing to share?

They (the prospective employers) will always ask you how much ($$$) you want to earn. This is a very important detail that often will kick you off the game.

Click the search box up in the top right of the page. "welding engineer" gets quite a few hits. As usual max out the limit boxes at the bottom of the search page.

Although not an engineer I would expect a prospective employer to be more interested in "things engineered" than "years engineering" although both have their place. A PE license is sure to be a plus.
